Will Smith said that in the movie
After Earth. I really enjoyed the movie and for a long time after the
movie had finished playing this quote haunted my mind. You see what
his character in the movie could do was shut down his fear, overcome
the emotions and doubt that caused it. This allowed him to battle the aliens
who smelled fear in the movie. This made him the perfect Warrior. I use the word
Warrior instead of soldier because it's more accurately what he was.
You see the definition via the dictionary is so misleading and
inaccurate it's scary. It simple states that a warrior is someone who
fights in battles. If that’s all it took to be a warrior then
these men; David, Achilles, Hercules, Beowulf, Spartacus, King
Arthur, Sir Lancelot, and Jonathan would have needed a greater title
in which to be called. Their mighty deeds are what earned them the
right to be called a Warrior.
To me, a Warrior is someone who
inspires loyalty, exposes cowardice, vanquishes his foes, and fights
for a righteous cause whatever it may be. They are dedicated to
training their body and mind, not backing down from a fight yet never
seeking one either. They were men! Wild, Brave, Free, Tough, and
Smart. When I heard these words spoken from Will Smith's character I
knew exactly what he was, a Warrior. You see he had to put himself
last to shut down his fear. He had to calm himself in the face of
danger and fight to save himself and all those he cared for. He
didn't seek fame or gratitude from anyone and when a soldier he
encountered stood while injured to salute him, he quickly came to his
aid to help him back on the stretcher. The soldiers admired him and
looked up to him for he had been there Savior! Chills ran through me
as I realized who this was in my life! Who my Savior was and all that
He had accomplished. My Savior was the greatest Warrior who has ever
lived. He knew exactly what must be done to obtain victory, and He
did it Gracefully. He died, Crucified on a wooden cross so that He
might set us Free. So that He might save us from all that was trying
to kill us.
Jesus was brutally beaten and marred.
Had nails driven through his hands and feet into the wood then
hoisted up high into the air so that all could see Him broken and
unrecognizable! The most amazing thing came out of it all! He cried
out with His last breath.
“Forgive them for they know not what
they do!”
You see He went to the cross willing!
He chose to walk that path for God had called Him to it. He would
accomplish the goal no matter the cost to Himself because God was
asking Him to do it! Why are we not more like our Savior!? Why are me
not striving to be like Him in such a way that we would give anything
and do anything to accomplish what God has called us into!? He was
willing to do it for us, so why aren't we willing to do it for Him?
The craziest part of it all is were not called to be brutally
murdered, we're simply called to show Gods love!
We are told this in Matthew 10:26-28
“So have no fear
of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden
that will not be known. What I tell you in the dark, say
in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops.
And do not fear those
who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.
Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”
We
need to have no fear, and be willing to shout what God has shown us
in secret!
You may be asking “what has He shown me though?” To which I will
simply give you this. “You have been fearfully and wonderfully
made, there is a plan and a purpose for your life, you are loved, and
you need to share the light that lives in you with the world.” Need
proof? Psalm 139-14, Jeremiah 29:11, Ephesians 2:10, John 3:6,
Matthew 28:19-20, and John 8:12. The list goes on and on but those
should be sufficient.
Going
back to Matthew 10 though I want to point out the bold underlined
portion. Have no fear, what is told you in the dark speak in the
light, and what is whispered shout from the housetops. These are
huge! We should want to do this everywhere we go! To me that’s what
this blog is. This blog is where I shout from the roof tops. It's
where I share with you guys what God is telling me in my still quiet
moments. I challenge you to find a way to do this for yourself. Find
a way to share with others what God is sharing with you, don’t have
fear in doing it either. Take risk and find ways to succeed and you
will not be disappointed with what God brings into your life. Remember
Fear is a Liar and a choice. Our enemy is the author of lies and will
seek to strike fear into you. He wants to discourage you hoping you
will never share Gods love with others. Don't give in though and be
courageous. Your Father God is with you always and His Son is our
Warrior, willing to go to any lengths to fight for us and protect us. Have no fear.
Much
Love,
The
Bear
